Responsibilities:
The Intermediate/Senior Designer should be comfortable working with a mining group, have a strong mechanical aptitude, desire to learn, and good problem solving and communication skills. As Mainstay is a growing company, the Designer should be willing to help define and adapt the role to fit with their needs and those of the company.
Supervision and mentorship of Intermediate and Junior technologists
Lead the detailed design of our projects and delegate specific scopes to our team
Peer review of your colleagues drawings and designs
Project coordination - Monitoring progress, schedule, budget, scope, and identification and management of project changes
Mechanical/structural 3D modeling, drawings, and simulation including flowsheets and P&IDs
As-built drawings
On site field verification as required
Recommend and help develop improved design standards
Maintain and develop client relationships based on project performance
Working with team members to collaborate on project deliverables
Holding team members accountable
Work at client sites based on project requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in mechanical/structural engineering technology and/or CAD/CAM
5 - 10+ years of direct experience in consulting engineering and mining and industrial industries.
Must possess strong organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without Mainstay sponsorship at time of application.
Assets:
A.Sc.T. or C.Tech designation
Plant layout and point cloud manipulation
3D scanning experience
Inventor, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Plant 3D, Advanced Steel
Project management experience
Bulk materials handling and machine design
Fabrication/machining experience
Experience preparing shop drawings
Safety certifications and training
Field experience on site and in an industrial setting
