General Description:
The Nature Programs Technician enhances visitor experiences at the Saskatchewan Science Centre through exemplary science interpretation and maintaining a high quality of care for the resident animals and their enclosures. The Nature Programs Technician works to engage the visitor in environmental science-themed discovery and exploration. This requires awareness of visitors, ability to be imaginative and creative, as well as familiarity with the care and maintenance of animals in captivity

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
    Completed post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in science, outdoor education, veterinary technology, combined with related experience and/or training in interpretation, science communication and/or informal learning.
    1-2 years experience working as an animal and nature interpreter
    Will need to have or be willing to get rabies vaccination.
    Experience with handling live animals and caring for their wellbeing.
    Experience with land-based learning and/or Indigenous science initiatives is an asset.  
    Experience teaching or instructing a variety of age levels in formal or informal learning environment.
    Proven leadership skills and experience in training, mentoring, or coaching employees.
    Curiosity and a keen interest in science and science literacy.
    Strong verbal communications skills.
    Excellent organizational skills.
    A positive attitude with a high level of customer relations skills.
    Training in First Aid/CPR, OH&S and WHMIS would be considered an asset.
