Description

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides a fair justice system that promotes safe and secure communities; provides supervision and rehabilitative services for adult and young offenders; and ensures that effective policing programs uphold the rule of law and protect society and the rights of individuals.

We have opportunities for permanent full-time employment as a Probation Officer/Community Youth Worker within Community Corrections in the North Battleford office. Your primary goal will be to work within an integrated and collaborative client service approach providing programs and services to adult and young offenders.

To qualify, you will possess a degree in human services in any of the following fields: Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Human Justice, Education, Arts: Justice Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Police Studies and Indigenous Studies or possess grandfathering provisions in accordance with Community Corrections qualifications. A degree from an accredited university or college that does not focus on human behaviour along with acceptable correctional and/or human behavioural work experience may be considered. If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you must have it assessed against Canadian education standards. You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in:

- Contributing factors of criminal behaviours;
- Theories and intervention strategies including cognitive behavioural approaches; and
- Systemic barriers that affect individuals and communities.

This position is required to travel and will be required to work flexible hours, which sometimes may include evenings. A valid driver's license is required.
