Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division is hiring an Associate Process Engineer. This role will support the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations for SRCs Rare Earth Processing Facility.
Accountabilities
Participate in developing procedures for plant operations, including startup and shutdown
Work as part of a team to design, develop and test REE plant processes and circuits with virtual process models, using various simulation software
Participate in hands on laboratory testing of hydrometallurgy, mineral and metal processing techniques
Participate in commissioning activities, including troubleshooting and recommending improvements to processes to optimize results
Qualifications
Chemical Engineering degree (or related discipline) and registration as a Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
One to five years of experience in hydrometallurgy, mineral and metals processing, or chemical manufacturing
Skills
Hands-on experience with plant design, process development, commissioning, and operations in a minerals-related field
Experience using METSIM and AutoCAD software
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including clients, project teams and contractors
Flexible and adaptable; able to address shifting priorities and competing project demands and deadlines, while using sound judgement, resourcefulness, initiative and innovation
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
