Description

A Tenant Support Worker provides direct support to 8 tenants housed at Independence Commons. Is 20-30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, flexibility to work evenings & weekends when needed. Benefits and pension per SGEU collective.

Responsibilities
- Assist tenants in developing & enhancing life skills that support independent living, increase quality of life, help maintain tenancy.      
- Facilitate social, recreational & wellness activities; transporting for appointments as appropriate.
- Connect tenants with community supports (food bank, social services).  
- Schedule & meet 1:1 weekly with tenants (2.5 hours each).
- Facilitate goal setting & developing wellness plans, evaluation and identify any concerns in their independence, declining mental or physical health.
- Support and assist in cleaning of units, communicate maintenance needs; daily life skills, food prep/planning.
- Participate in record keeping, budget & reporting.
- Participate in training, team meetings, coaching, fundraising, special events & others as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Establish & maintain professional relationships with tenants, teammates, community partners and the public. Work well independently and as a team.
- Excellence in communication, conflict management and problem solving.
- Microsoft Office (Intermediate - Expert)

Qualifications
- Mental Health Worker Certification or equivalent of 1-2 years experience working with individuals living with lifelong mental illness/addictions.
- First Aid & CPR Certification, Safe Food Handling Certification
- Occupational Health & Safety Certification(s) an asset
- ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace all an asset

Requirements
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
- Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
