The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
Use appropriate teaching aides and techniques, in order to meet basic Saskatchewan curriculum standards;
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual needs of students;
Promote and assist in the development of Cree Language and Culture programming;
Attend staff/community/School Committee/parent-teacher/Cree Language Retention Committee meetings and in-service workshops to develop a greater understanding of community aspirations and improvement of personal teaching competencies;
Participate in operation of the school extracurricular program.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree.
A Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate.
Must be fluent in Woodland Cree (required).
Cree Language training is an asset
Strong background in the culture and traditions of the Woodland Cree.
Experience with outdoor Education and Cultural Activities following the 6 seasons.
Strong classroom management skills.
Ability to teach students of varying abilities.
Cross-Cultural experience is an asset.
Must be able to provide verification of previous teaching experience (if applicable);
Must be able to provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract and Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
