Description

Summary
Foreman, Rail Signals and Construction for CDL Canada is responsible for managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project outcome. The Signal Foreman is responsible safety, quality, and scheduling, managing time and work with the Ministry of Highways and interconnected Railways to ensure safety to the public and railway.

Required Experiences:
- Knowledge of electronics and electrical fundamentals with an emphasis in low-voltage AC & DC circuits and relay or ladder logic. Must be able to read wiring diagrams and use multi-meter.
- Knowledge of rail operations generally and railroad signaling principals specifically.
- Experience in Railroad/Highway grade crossing construction.
- A largely independent job thus good time management, communication, and personal initiative are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that project is built to specifications and scope of work.
- Plan the day-to-day operations on the assigned project and ensure that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work i.e., labor, equipment, and materials.
- Accountable for crew performance and administration of company goals, safety audits, company policies and procedures, etc.
- Maintain a dedication to safety by modelling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices, company policies and procedures.
- Perform a variety of related administrative tasks including paperwork,schedules, etc.
- General labor duties as required.
- Understand and comply with Transport Canada rules and regulations around railroad signaling.
- Monitor company vehicles, equipment, tools, etc following all maintenance and calibration schedules.

Physical Demands:
- Standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and walking (potential of uneven surfaces).
- Push/Pull/Lift/Moving 50+ pounds.
- Possibility of working in adverse weather conditions.
