Description

The Homelessness Individual and Family Information System (HIFIS) is looking to hire a Data Specialist. You will be providing quality analysis of current and future HIFIS data to ensure accuracy, assisting the current team with testing, developing reports, and training users of the system. This position requires a keen eye for detail, disseminating significant levels of information and implementing problem solving skills and will assist the Community Engagement Manager (HIFIS) with other tasks as needed.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, IT, data management, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications could be advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using the HIFIS system or similar software used for data management and reporting.
Strong understanding of database management concepts and experience with database querying languages (e.g., SQL).
Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
Familiarity with data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance processes.

Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and interpret data to draw actionable insights.
Problem-solving skills to address unusual issues effectively.
Attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Domain Knowledge:
Understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to data and privacy.

Communication Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with users, stakeholders, and team members.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and provide training and support.

Skills and experience with Project Management, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning are also required.

Preferred Skills include:
Understanding of the Reaching Home: Canada's Homelessness Strategy
Knowledge of Saskatoon's Homelessness Serving organizations
Knowledge or experience working with Non-Profits.
