Sask Polytech is committed to increasing the participation of historically underrepresented groups in our organization. The Representative Workforce Consultant plays a lead role in building and sustaining a workforce wherein Indigenous people have equitable access to jobs, training, and education opportunities (Truth and Reconciliation Commission [TRC] Call to Action #92ii). This position facilitates the recruitment, career development and retention of Indigenous people by exposing barriers and identifying opportunities for Indigenous employment, and then recommending changes to current recruitment and retention practices to improve Sask Polytechs ability to embody a representative workforce.
Through miyo whkhtowin (good relationships), the Representative Workforce Consultant will collaboratively plan and implement initiatives that enhance Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing, and relating, and also address challenges and barriers faced by Indigenous candidates, employees, and students. This role would act as an expert resource to provide guidance and direction on HR and enterprise-wide initiatives related to diversity and representative workforce. Externally, the position is also responsible for identifying and building strategic partnerships with Indigenous communities, organizations, government departments, agencies, union and faculty association and other educational institutions.

The Representative Workforce Consultant is part of the HR Strategy Development team and works in close collaboration with other HR partners, the Sask Polytech community, and external partners to lead EDII-related work. Based at any of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic locations (Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Regina, or Moose Jaw), this position is responsible to lead the development, implementation and continued nurturing of an Indigenous representative workforce strategy aligned with Sask Polytechs EDII Strategy.
