The Environmental Protection Branch of the Ministry of Environment is seeking a multi-talented individual with a strong engineering and/or science background as Environmental Protection Officer to deliver results-based environmental protection programs throughout the province of Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience with assessment/decommissioning/reclamation of environmentally impacted areas;
- In depth knowledge of environmental issues and environmental protection processes associated with municipal, industrial and mining operations, including treatment/storage of hazardous materials, spill response, air emissions, waste management;
- Comprehensive knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, biology, geochemistry, water chemistry, and inorganic chemistry, relating to municipal and industrial applications and impacted site reclamation; and
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, agreements, policies, guidelines, principles and processes relevant to environmental protection and compliance assurance including results-based regulation is also required.
Typically, the competencies required for this position can be achieved through a degree in engineering or science combined with related environmental work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. You will have demonstrated ability to adhere to the values of the Saskatchewan Public Service.
