Kahkewistahaw First Nation is seeking dedicated and skilled Hockey Specialist Teacher to join our team. This position would split time between the classroom and the hockey development program. We offer a dynamic environment where you can contribute to the development of young athletes (u7, u9, u11). The candidate will have a range of responsibilities, including classroom responsibilities (preferably at the high school level), overseeing day-to-day hockey operations, and contributing to player and coach development. They should possess and teaching certificate and a strong knowledge of hockey development, skills, strategies, and tactics. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, so the teacher should be able to work well in a collaborative environment. Mentorship, leadership, and conflict management skills are also important, as the teacher will be responsible for guiding and supporting the athletes. Its crucial that the teacher is passionate about fostering an environment of personal and athletic growth for the students. Having the required coaching certifications or working towards obtaining them is necessary to ensure that the teacher is qualified and up to date with the necessary training. A passion for sports and a desire to make a positive impact on everyone involved is also invaluable. Overall, finding a teacher who possesses these skills and qualities will contribute to the success and development of the CKCS students and the Kahkewistahaw Minor Hockey Program (u7, u9, u11).
Experience
Teaching Certificate for Saskatchewan, classroom experience an asset
hockey: 5 plus years, experience in AA, AAA, Jr, Pro an asset (preferred)
coaching: 3-5 years, experience in AA, AAA, Jr, Pro an asset (preferred)
