The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is a treasury board crown responsible for emergency communications including Sask911 and SaskAlert, wildfire management, emergency management and fire safety. This centralized agency ensures a single point of contact for communities, greater co-ordination of provincial resources and contributes to safer communities in our province.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is seeking a highly motivated, confident, innovative and client-service oriented leader to be the Manager, Financial Planning and Reporting in the Finance Branch. This individual should have strong communication, problem solving and management skills to provide financial expertise and leadership to internal and external clients with respect to all agency accounting and financial matters.
This position will oversee all financial reporting functions of the Agency, including: quarterly and year-end activities; completion of financial forecasting (revenue and expense); reconciling of special funds; audit coordination and addressing recommendations from the Provincial Auditor; leading the cost modeling; assistance with the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls; and involvement in the development of the Agencys annual budget.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Financial Administration Manual, Public Sector Accounting Board accounting standards and legislative authorities. You will be required to instruct, coach and encourage others to enhance their job performance and further develop their skills. You will be able to plan, prioritize and organize a large volume of tasks and projects with conflicting and changing priorities to meet strict deadlines.
