About You:
You are an audit professional with strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. You are experienced in assessing and analyzing complex financial information such as historical and pro forma financial statements, financial forecasts and projections, and other disclosures. You are skilled in interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and policies in a fair and consistent manner.
What is the opportunity?
The Securities Division of the FCAA is currently seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as Senior Securities Analyst for a 14-month term. In this position, you will:
- Execute regulatory activities such as detailed reviews of disclosure and financial reporting by public companies. You will communicate concerns and deficiencies to clients, monitor to ensure these concerns are resolved, and recommend escalating regulatory actions if concerns are not appropriately addressed.
-Participate as a subject matter expert on national policy committees that form recommendations for the development of regulations and regulatory instruments.
- Seek direction and approval for these policy recommendations from the FCAAs senior management and Board of Directors.
- Assist with the budgeting and forecasting for the division.
What do you need to succeed?
A successful candidate must be proficient in financial analysis with an advanced understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required. Additional experience in performing external audits, knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be considered an asset.
