The Prairie Valley School Division No.208 is offering a contract position for a Returning Officer for the upcoming school board elections to be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Reporting to the Deputy Director of operations/CFO, the Returning Officer will manage the election process as per the Local Government Election Act, 2015 and its Regulations and The Education Act, 1995 and its Regulations.
Typical duties include:
- planning and recommending polling locations throughout the division and the production of relevant maps
- overseeing the nomination process and the eventual printing of ballots
- hiring and training election workers for the event
- collaborating with towns, villages, resorts and RMs to ensure an efficient and effective election process
- preparing notices, statements of results and other public communications as necessary
- other related services as agreed upon
Compensation will include a base fee of $12,500 and reimbursement for relevant travel expenses as required. It is anticipated part-time planning work would begin during the summer and continue until shortly after election day.
