The primary objective of this position is to support the reduction and prevention of homelessness in the community through the successful delivery of the Housing Support Program at Carmichael Outreach.
Duties may include, but not be limited to:
-Conducting intakes of new potential clients while understanding and responding to the unique needs of each individual
-Completing SPADATS, and utilizing the HIFIS system when it is available, and as required;
-Finding available rentals, taking clients on viewings, meeting landlords, advocating for clients, etc.;
-Moving clients into new housing, including physically transporting clients and their belongings to their new place, helping with getting keys cut (where needed), obtaining furniture and other household belongings, moving items into the new place, and setting things up to help make it feel like home;
-Providing follow-up supports to both promote self-sufficiency and help clients remain successful in their housing. This includes a variety of activities such as: assisting with budgeting, medication regimens, groceries, scheduling, etc.; interfering with unwanted guests; assisting with deep clean or organizing to prevent potential eviction; mediating between landlords and clients; etc.
-Connecting clients to available and applicable community resources
-Emotional and social support through communication, respect, and understanding
Requirements:
-Ability to work independently and with a team
-Accurate record-keeping
-Good communication and organizational skills
-Crisis intervention skills
-Class 5 drivers license
-Valid First Aid/CPR Cert.
-Vulnerable Sector CRC
