Description

Reporting directly to the Home Care Supervisor, this position provides client focused care, family centered care and culturally competent care to individuals their families and their communities served by Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre. The Home Care Nurse position promotes health and healing and provides education as a member of the health care team to achieve optimum care for clients in all phases of health care.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
* Registered Nurse in good standing (or eligible to become registered) with CRNS.
* Minimum 3 years in community health nursing experience in First Nations community an asset.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues facing First Nations people.
* Good understanding of population health principles and concepts.
* Must be able to work as an effective team member and to work independently, in a selfmotivated manner.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
* Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
* Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Class 5 drivers license, work flexible hours, possibility of some evenings and some weekends.
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures. Knowledge of Plains Cree Language is a definite asset.
* Must provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector.
* Must be computer literate.
