Are you passionate about doing meaningful work? Do you care about water as one of our most important resources? The Water Security Agency is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to join the Financial Operations team.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Operations, an employee in this job will assist with and provide input into the review, evaluation, modification and implementation of financial management systems and processes. The employee will audit input; prepare reconciliation working papers; compile and communicate financial information to internal and external users; assess transactions for applicable taxes, accuracy, and adherence to accounting standards and internal policies with the other members of the Financial Operations Unit.
The Candidate will respond to inquiries and provide guidance in an effective, efficient and courteous manner including assisting in identifying and resolving problems and communicating any issues or concerns to the Manager.
This candidate will also audit the processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions for adherence to internal controls and policies and applicable accounting standards as well as monitor processes and maintain records and listings for all types of contracts and agreements, reviewing all applicable taxes, holdbacks, clearances and authorizations.
The selected candidate will have working knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles and accounting systems, concepts and practices and knowledge of public sector accounting standards and procedures in the crown sector and work well in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
The candidate will have a diploma in Business Accountancy and 4 years of directly related experience. This role is subject to a satisfactory criminal record check.
