Facility: Royal University Hospital
Job Description: The Health Educator primary role is to improve the health and quality of life for community
dwelling older adults through health promotion, needs assessment, program development,
evaluation, leadership training, and implementation of healthy active lifestyle and fall
prevention initiatives. Services are delivered through education, facilitation, leadership, and
resource development. This is done in partnership with older adult groups, healthcare
providers, and community based organizations/programs/services.

Required Qualifications

Current CPR and Standard First Aid Certification
Registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate licensing body
Requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Health Promotion, Health or Social Sciences
Experience
Experience in fitness training & consultation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to collaboratively plan, develop and lead or co-lead education sessions and presentations for older adults, healthcare professionals, and agencies
Ability to facilitate group discussions, team building activities, and group dynamics
Ability to lead group exercise  
Ability to provide health promotion and fall prevention programs for older adults  
Ability to support and/or co-lead fall prevention initiatives and programs in the community
Ability to work intersectorally and collaborate with internal and external partners to integrate physical and falls prevention activity for older adults into community
Ability to work with other partners to conduct evaluation and research related to physical activity for older adults
Current knowledge of health promotio
