Brief Overview:
Located in the pristine boreal forest of Northern Saskatchewan, the Sakitawak Conservation Area Project is a Metis lead Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA) proposal that seeks to protect habitats of vulnerable species by promoting sustainable development practices, advance Indigenous ways of life, identify knowledge systems, and implement stewardship activities. The project is based in Ile-a-la-Crosse Saskatchewan.
The project is an agreement between the A La Baie Metis Local 21, Metis Nation Saskatchewan, and Environment and Climate Change Canada. The projects governance board, the ICS4, is composed of representatives from the Metis, the village of Ile-a-la-Crosse, the fishermans cooperative, and the N-14 trappers association.
Under the direction of the Sakitawak Program Manager, the Sakitawak Administration Assistant will support the needs of the project. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the completion of day-to-day administrative responsibilities of this important project.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assists with various Administration projects and continuous improvement initiatives (SharePoint/record keeping system) based on Project needs.
-Creates and generates reports as required, uploads documents, and accuracy of data.
-Supports other Project staff with monitoring, responding, and tracking inquiries.
-Assists in background work, e.g., administration, research, analysis, coordination, and development of tools and resources.
-Updating internal folders and records.
