The Energy Regulation Division (ERD) regulates the lifecycle activities related to the responsible development of Saskatchewan's oil, gas and associated mineral resources.
The Ministry is seeking two candidates to serve as Senior Engineer, Orphan Fund Procurement with the Energy Regulation Division (ERD) in Regina. Reporting to the Director, Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Orphan Fund, you will be responsible for overseeing the management and vision of the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Orphan Fund (SOGOF), ensuring alignment with the ministrys strategic and business plans and Saskatchewans Growth Plan.
As Senior Engineer, Orphan Fund Procurement you will:
- Implement the SOGOF procurement program to align with the provincial liability management strategy to ensure costs associated with abandonment/decommissioning and reclamation of orphaned sites is borne by the oil and gas industry and that those costs do not get passed on to the taxpayers of Saskatchewan;
- Coordinate the safe abandonment, decommissioning and reclamation of these sites including surface and subsurface. Utilizing the orphan fund, you will source vendors to restore these orphaned oil and gas sites in a cost-effective manner that adheres to current provincial regulations;
- Responsible for the evaluation, recommending and approving orphan fund expenditures for the SOGOF abandonment, decommissioning and reclamation;
- Ensure all orphan sites meet the highest abandonment and environmental standards of the Ministry and other applicable criteria prior to site closure through evaluation and approval of technical abandonment/ environmental engineer reports and applications; and much more!
