The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person with superior analytical and problem-solving skills to work as an Investigator 1.
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Resolution, the successful candidate will respond to inquiries regarding complaints of discrimination as required by The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code. You will need to demonstrate your ability to review and analyze information, consider applicable human rights principles and compose a summary of relevant information. You will have basic knowledge of provincial human rights legislation and human rights issues related to discrimination. You will have experience working with legislation and with individuals in conflict. You will demonstrate knowledge, proficiency and understanding about the underlying principles for problem solving based on restorative justice concepts. A background in resolving conflict constructively will enable your work in informal dispute resolution and dealing with parties to a complaint who may be angry or distraught. Excellent writing skills will allow you to keep accurate detailed notes regarding complaint information, as well as draft complaint forms, agreements and other written documents as required. Your exceptional organizational skills will allow you to respond effectively to public inquiries while professionally managing a significant caseload.
Typically the knowledge and abilities required for this position will be attained by the completion of a post-secondary degree in journalism, communications, human justice, social work, human resources, or another relevant degree. Legal training is considered a definite asset. The Commission will also consider an equivalent combination of training and experience.
