Description

The Weld Engineering Specialist will establish and refine welding manufacturing procedures. This position will prepare and maintain shop documentation conforming to quality system requirements and assess and help to resolve non-conforming conductions that affect the product. The Weld Engineering Specialist will support shop activities and ensure safe work through the maintenance, upgrading of equipment and facilities and support tooling design and weld processes, as required. The focus of this position is on welding processes, weld documentation, welder training and welding equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), and other supporting documentation. Analyze Engineering designs for weld requirements. Support Welder Training to meet AWS, CWB and Customer specific WeldingCodes/Specifications. Support ITP welding requirements and inspections. Execute Weld Testing requirements on new products, joint configurations and materials. Conduct failure and cause analyses on welding non-conformances. Support Internal and External NCR and Corrective Action processes. Perform weld inspections to Customers specifications. Interface with Engineering & Production Teams to rectify process issues related to welded assemblies. Perform Internal Weld Audits. Ensure compliance with Welding Governing Bodies such as CWB and AWS. Collect, analyze and implement corrective actions to improve overall weld quality and efficiency.

Required Skills & Expertise:
Two (2) plus years experience as a CWB Level 2 weld inspector or AWS equivalent(s)CSA W178.2 Level 2 CertificationObtain ongoing Customer certifications for Inspections & Training.Red Seal Welding CertificationExperience in Welding Procedure Software.

Educational Requirements:  College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivale
