Description

The Prevention Worker will work under direction of the Prevention Director and be based out of the Cegakin Prevention Office located on the Cegakin First Nation. The Prevention Worker is responsible for providing prevention services support to children, youth and families who are identified at risk. The Prevention Worker will participate in case planning and wrap around service delivery to children, youth and families. The Prevention Worker functions as a member of the Cegakin Prevention Services.
You will be responsible for providing prevention services and programming for children, youth and families a respectful, safe and culturally relevant environment which respects each child, youth and adult as an individual.
Engaging with individuals in a way that empowers them to move towards a more holistic lifestyle
Advocating for all individuals needs for First Nation services, off-reserve services and other local service providers, working in collaboration with staff through peer consultations and participating in delivered workshops that would help provide prevention services support to children, youth and families.
Integrated service meetings, oversee youth workers, guide in programming. Maintaining working files that are accurate, concise and up-to-date.
Facilitate community information workshops on effective and healthy parenting that addresses various family groups
Provide information, counselling and support services to families using the community-based model of childcare.
Screen for the safety of the child/children such as risk of abuse and neglect and communicate risk to the appropriate party.
Assist in identifying the need for family support services and possible resources available in community or outside the community.
You will be expected to maintain and build meaningful culture, family and community connections for Cegakin First Nation children, youth and families involved with child welfare system.
