Under the supervision of the Day Care Director; the Childcare Worker will provide support to children from ages 18 months to 12 years of age and their families to support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social developments of children in the day care program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Minimum requirement is an Early Childhood Education Certification.
* Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community
* Experience in children's programming or services
* An ability to demonstrate energy and enthusiasm while working with children and families.
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and community service agencies.
* Must be willing to take direction, be open to new ideas, able to learn and grow with the program, the children, and the parents.
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
* Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset.
* Confidentiality is essential.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work independently, in an initiative-taking manner and effectively as a team player.
* Valid Class 5 drivers license required with clean drivers abstract.
* A successful criminal record check with vulnerable sector
* Access to an insured vehicle during working hours is required.
