The YMCA of Regina is a non-profit charity open to all. We are dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. We focus our program delivery on our three pillars of service: health and fitness, community development, and childcare.
We are looking for a skilled Assistant Building Maintenance Operator to provide day to day assistance to our Building Maintenance Operator at our various locations throughout the city. This person will be providing high-quality maintenance and repair services to our childcare centres within the city.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Assist the Building Maintenance Operator with various tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general maintenance.
* Prepare materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance projects.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and tools.
* Follow instructions from supervisor to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
* Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding project status and any issues encountered.
* Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.
* Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving during maintenance and repair projects.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous experience in a similar role or familiarity with basic maintenance and repair tasks is preferred.
* Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and attention to detail.
* Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and reaching.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
* Criminal Record Check prior to first day of work and dated no more than 3 months before hire date.
