Description

The YMCA of Regina is looking for an experienced Early Childhood Educator who has experience and/or education in autism spectrum disorder. This person would work one-on-one with a grade one Autistic child at one of our centers in Moose Jaw. They would also act as cover staff when the child is at school or not at the center.

Responsibilities:
* Work one-on-one with an autistic child before and after school and on non-school days.
* Ride the bus to and from school with the child.
* Cover staff breaks, assist with food prep and dishes, cleaning, etc. when the child is at school or not at the center.
* Understand and uphold Ministry of Education childcare regulations while fostering teamwork.
* Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and explore.
* Engage and encourage children through the implementation of the YMCAs Playing to Learn Curriculum.
* Maintains a clean & healthy workplace according to public health & YMCA standards.
* Demonstrates a commitment to working in partnership with parents, families, and team members.

Job Requirements:
* Autism related training/education (Autism Spectrum Disorder Certificate of Achievement or related courses) or experience with children with autism is required. Autism related education will be required for those with experience but no formal training.
* Early Childhood Education Level I-III Certification.
* Experience working in a structured childcare environment, an asset.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Criminal Record Check (original) with vulnerable sector check prior to first day of work and dated no more than 3 months before start date.
* Current: Standard First Aid, CPR.
* Play & Exploration Training an asset, but not required.
