Description

As part of our efforts to enhance community safety and emergency preparedness, we are seeking a skilled Fire Smart and Emergency Technician to join our team. This position will play a vital role in our organization's mission to promote fire prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery within our First Nation communities.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of community infrastructure, landscapes, and properties to identify fire risks and vulnerabilities.
Develop and implement fire prevention and mitigation strategies
Collaborate with community leaders, emergency services, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate emergency response plans and procedures.
Provide training sessions and workshops on fire safety, prevention techniques, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Lead search and rescue operations during fire incidents or other emergencies.
Assist in the development and maintenance of Fire Smart programs and initiatives aimed at promoting community resilience and disaster preparedness.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fire prevention measures and emergency response plans
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to fire incidents, training activities, and community outreach efforts.

Qualifications:
Certification or training in fire prevention, emergency management, search and rescue
Previous experience and knowledge of Fire Smart principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and or a team in high-pressure situations.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different communities.
