Job Description: The Nursing Supervisor is accountable for the overall coordination of care and flow of acute and non-acute patients throughout their stay. This includes the flow to and from other facilities within Region and both Provincial and Inter Provincial. They also provide supportive care of other departments at the Victoria Hospital.
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for patient bed management and utilization of the Victoria Hospital beds and nursing staff resources in collaboration with the Nursing Managers during their hours of work and independently in the off hours. The navigators work collaboratively with the nursing unit managers to ensure patients receive quality care. The Nursing Supervisor is the management representative in the absence of the Nursing Unit Managers and all senior administrative personnel; therefore they provide both clinical and administrative direction, problem solving and leadership within the hospital. This is a leadership role, which requires highly developed problem solving and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of health care providers, physicians, patients, and families.
Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Registration with SRNA
Education: Registered Nurse, B.ScN is preferred
Five to Ten years of related nursing experience.
Previous Nursing Administration experience would be an asset
Certification in BCLs, ACLS TLR, PART
Knowledge and experience in LEAN would be an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice. Working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of hospital operation and nursing administration
