Saskatoon SPCA is a registered charitable organization dedicated to providing shelter, care, nutrition, and love to abandoned and neglected animals in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. Since 1968, we have been finding happy homes for companion animals and rely on the generosity of individual and corporate donors to support our mission.


Role Description

This is a temporary hybrid role (with the possibility to extend into a permanent position) for an Accounting Technician at Saskatoon SPCA.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Accounting Technician will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining financial records, data entry, record keeping, daily office duties, and utilizing accounting software. This role will be primarily based in Saskatoon, SK, with flexibility for some remote work.
The funding for this position is based on Canada Summer Jobs grant and the successful applicant must be:
In between 15  30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment,
Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.


Qualifications

Strong analytical skills
Experience in bookkeeping and maintaining financial records
Proficiency in accounting software
Knowledge of finance principles
Attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and remotely
Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
Must have a genuine interest in and concern for the overall well-being of animals and demonstrate empathy and compassion for shelter animals.
