Duties
The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Outreach Worker provides support, education, crisis counselling, &  outreach services to those who have experienced IPV

Duties include
    Provide short-term crisis counselling, crisis management & outreach services for individuals impacted by IPV
    Accompany & provide support to clients who require assistance with housing, medical care, and other needs
    Adhere to reporting requirements regarding child protection & IPV issues
    Perform related administrative/record keeping duties
    May be required to perform work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings and/or weekends
    Others as assigned

Qualifications
Education
    BSW or BISW degree
    1-3 yrs direct experience in a relevant area
    Eligible for registration with/maintain good standing in a relevant professional association
Areas of Knowledge:
    Theories of human development, behaviour, & change
    Theories & practices of communication & conflict resolution
    Interviewing, assessment, & evaluation techniques
    Knowledge of the dynamics of IPV / DV & demonstrated experience working with those experiencing such violence
    Knowledge & experience in trauma-informed approaches & counselling
    In-depth knowledge of community resources/agencies and the services offered in relation to IPV
    Awareness of & cultural sensitivity to the customs, traditions, spiritual beliefs & philosophy & perspective on family dynamics of Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations
    Awareness of addictions, mental health concerns, FASD, etc. & influence/impact on individuals impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence
    Experience in facilitating group work & knowledge of group dynamics
    Ability to deal with people experiencing difficult, unusual, &/or challenging situations
    Valid drivers license & access to a personal vehicle
