What your 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday will look like:
You will support the team with building maintenance and upgrades for the facility, including upgrades and maintenance of our beamlines that our visiting researchers use with the support of our scientists. This will include:
- Servicing precision assembly of mechanical components including installation, manufacturing, maintenance, tests and repairs.
- Engaging in technical system maintenance including troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical and/or technical equipment or machinery.
- Interpreting and implementing plans, drawings and specifications related to installation, modification, repair and operation of equipment.
While nearly all duties can be completed within the core hours of work, limited shift work and on-call duties may be required.
Qualifications you will need to succeed in this position:
- A relevant Journeyperson ticket. Some examples of tickets relevant to the work at Canadian Light Source include Steamfitter / Pipefitter, Plumber, Metal Fabricator, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, and Industrial Mechanic.
- At least six years experience in related systems or facilities.
- As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you must be a strong team player, willing to learn new skills and technologies through on the job training.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision in a safe and respectful manner is required.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to work with a diverse staff and visiting researchers.
