Description

The Emergency Receiving Home Child Support Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate care to children in crisis. In an emergency receiving home, the worker ensures the safety, emotional support, and well-being of children temporarily placed in the facility due to emergencies. This position demands empathy, resilience, and practical skills to meet the needs of vulnerable children and offer them a nurturing, stable environment during distressing times.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide direct care and supervision to children in the emergency receiving home, ensuring their safety and comfort while offering emotional support during crises.
-Implement structured routines and activities for stability, and collaborate with social workers to develop individualized care plans.
-Monitor and document children's behavior and progress, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment.
-Facilitate meals, recreational activities, and hygiene routines for children, providing transportation as required.
-Work with external agencies and families for successful transitions to long-term placements, and participate in training opportunities.
-Work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, providing 24/7 support for children.
-Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of childhood development to support children effectively.
-Communicate and manage emergencies effectively, ensuring safety and adherence to NWFC operational manuals.
-Ensure maintenance of homes, buildings, and vehicles according to policies and procedures.

Requirements:
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Prior experience working with children
-Valid Class 5 driver's license
-First Aid/CPR Certification
-Criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check
