Description

The REM is Regina's museum without walls! We share Regina's community stories to bring people together and our mission is to build communities inspired by learning and sharing stories of the past and present that challenge and connect us all.

This student position allows for the individual to learn the different aspects of working with a collection, researching, and production of displays. In this term position, the individual will complete research on historical events/people/places of Regina, compile reports to be published, and create a summary of their research to be displayed in Regina. The research will involve using source documents from local organizations and the REM collection. The applicant will complete four reports during their time at the museum.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Creative thinker and problem solver.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills.
Active listening skills.
Able to complete research and produce reports based on findings.
Applicant must have a computer to work off of and have a good understanding of
Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.
Applicants who have previous experience or knowledge of museums, heritage
organizations, nonprofits, or galleries will be considered an asset.

Required Education:
Undergraduate degree in History, Art History, Cultures of Display, Archaeology,
Anthropology, Linguistics, World Studies, or a similar field.

YCW Requirements:
-be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
-be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
-be between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment;
-have registered as a high school, college, CEGEP or university student.
