Facility: WEYBURN MENTAL HEALTH / PUBLIC HEALTH
Job Description: A Dental Health Educator, as part of the public health team, is primarily responsible for assessing the oral health needs of the community.  Under the guidance of the Primary Health Care Manager, Public Health and the Medical Health Officer, this position is also responsible for coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating population based, oral health programs which are directed towards health promotion and disease prevention. As a member of the Dental Health Coordination Working Group of Saskatchewan, the Dental Health Educator is also involved in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of province-wide oral health programs.
Required Qualifications

Dental Therapy Diploma
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Dental Therapists Association
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
Some related experience which includes experience in health promotion and health education is an asset but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to conduct client assessments and engage in effective treatment planning
Ability to diagnose dental decay/abscesses and identify oral abnormalities
Ability to interact with clients, parents, health professionals, and community leaders/groups in a positive and culturally appropriate manner
Ability to organize work load demands
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Analytical skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of current scientific information/research/best practice in oral health and other related health issues
Knowledge of population health
