Description

Are you a curious and proactive individual who likes to work with others to find solutions to complex problems? Are you interested in supporting one of Saskatchewans world-leading industries? Are you a team player that prioritizes relationships and collaboration? The Policy Branch of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a highly organized, creative, self-motivated, and experienced individual to support work on agricultural policy, with assigned files including the grain handling and transportation system.

As a Senior Policy Analyst in the Strategic Policy Unit, you will analyze key trends, develop policy options and strategies, and provide advice to senior leaders on priority issues that impact the western Canadian agriculture sector. You will be able to anticipate and research critical issues facing agriculture in Saskatchewan and develop innovative and effective policy responses.

Drawing from your career experience and/or educational background, you will have knowledge of:

- Research methodologies and economic analysis techniques;
- Policy and program development and analysis; and,
- Government processes, structures, responsibilities and operations.

Knowledge of the Canadian grain handling and transportation system is a significant asset.

Typically, the skills and knowledge for this position will have been gained through a Masters degree in
- Agricultural Economics, Economics, Public Policy or a related field, or an undergraduate degree in
- Agriculture, Economics (or a degree in a related field) with relevant work experience.
