Description

Pelican Lake School is a Grade 7 to Grade 12 school operated on the Pelican Lake First Nation, located about 175 km northeast of North Battleford, SK.
Pelican Lake School is looking for a Math Catalyst.

The role of the Math Catalyst is to assist students in various aspects of their academic journey in order to improve student learning, achievement, and retention, and to engage students in academic success to assure graduation and careers. The academic coach will deliver programming during school hours, after school and in community-based tutorial sessions that will encourage home support, flexibility in working hours to meet requirements is required. This position works directly with students to ensure they stay in school and are academically successful.

Duties and Responsibilities:
    Tutor students
    Provide academic support to students
    Provide support to the school-based math team
    Work with students in efforts to increase numeracy levels
    Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, workshops as directed
    Demonstrated ability to connect with children in a student-centered learning environment in addition to having an interest or willingness to connect with students outside of the classroom;
    Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and extra-curricular activities
    Be able to prepare students for further educational goals
    Participation in curriculum development as required
    Successful teaching experience or training;
    Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications:
    A Bachelor Degree in Education.
    Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience.
    Saskatchewan Professional A Teachers' Certification.
    Experience working within First Nations' Schools and Communities.
    Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.).
    Standard First Aid/CPR
