Description

Pelican Lake School is a Grade 7 to Grade 12 school operated on the Pelican Lake First Nation, located about 175 km northeast of North Battleford, SK. Pelican Lake First Nation is looking for a SST-Student Services Teacher.

Reports to: Principal/Director of Education
Duties & Responsibilities:
    Liaise with other classroom teachers, school psychologists, learning disabilities specialists, speech/hearing specialists, and social workers to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of their students.
    Plan and prepare courses and subjects in accordance with policy and curriculum
    Incorporate First Nations curriculum and ways of learning into all programs
    Set learning goals for each student, assess their progress, and record their evaluations.
    Update parents on the progress of their students and enlist parental support with behavior control and home activities designed to supplement their classroom lessons.
    Develop academic and social/life skills programming for students Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and other special needs in a flexible and supportive learning environment.
    Teaching a small group of special needs students both inside and outside of the classroom
    Reading and interpreting psycho-educational reports and writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
    Other duties as required

Qualifications:
    Bachelor of Education Degree
    A Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate (STF)
    Special Education Certificate
    An understanding of and experience with, students with Special Needs and Learning Disabilities
    Cultural Competency
    Be well versed in Microsoft Office Applications
    Provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference check
