Description

Summer Fun is a recreation and leisure program for children and youth experiencing disability, aged 6 to 18 years.  The Summer Fun Facilitator is responsible for coordinating the program for the months of June, July and August.

Duties and responsibilities:
-  Coordinating and conducting recreational activities within the community for children and youth
-  Conducting participant selection that may include in-home visits with participants and their families
-  Recruiting and training volunteers as well as coordinating volunteers for each activity
-  Contacting facilities to schedule activities for the program, preparing the activity schedule for the participants and volunteers
-  Speaking businesses about the needs of the program, in search of possible donations, and increasing awareness
-  Coordinating participant transportation and acting as the liaison between families and transit services
-  Providing an engaging, interactive, safe and fun atmosphere for participants
-  Maintaining relevant statistical records and activity evaluations

Qualifications:
-  Class 5 Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Education:
-  Student continuing to full-time, post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Education, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, or related disciplines
-  Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Level C Certification

Experience:
-  Experience working with children and youth experiencing disability

Skills:
-  Excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills
-  Computer skills  Microsoft Office
-  Innovative and creative thinking skills
-  Valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle

The final candidates are required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
