Description

The Livestock Branch with the Ministry of Agriculture has a two-year intern opportunity to work with livestock sector experts providing advice on issues that impact producers. This motivated team player will support work of the Livestock Development Unit and help lead Ministry strategic initiatives as they pertain to the livestock sector in Saskatchewan. You will be responsible to thoroughly research and work with a team to succinctly brief and recommend options to senior officials. Collaboration and organization are the keys to success in this position.

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture works to enable a prosperous, market driven agricultural industry through a supportive legislative framework, policies, programs and services. The Livestock Branch provides leadership and livestock perspective to the formation, review and delivery of programs, disease surveillance/management, animal welfare/traceability, stakeholder relations, updating the industry through market reports/communications development, supports legislation that is livestock focused and is responsible for regulatory work in the sector.

In order to qualify for this position, the candidate will:
  - Have a degree in Agriculture with a livestock focus or have obtained a public policy degree with a livestock background;
  - Have the competencies identified for the intern position, including the necessary certification or technical knowledge in their field of study;
  - Have less than three years of related work experience in their field of study or are looking to re-enter to workforce after being away for an extended period of time; and
  - Be eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the employment term.
