The Good Spirit School Division is currently seeking a Payroll Assistant to primarily handle bus driver payroll, including both regular and substitute drivers. Additional responsibilities include managing employee benefits, accrual maintenance, support staff pension administration, 12 pay support staff payroll, data entry, filing, and other assigned duties. The Payroll department consists of a dedicated team responsible for processing payroll for approximately 1100 employees monthly, handling tasks such as calculations, maternity leaves, terminations, record of employment, T4s, benefit enrollment, remittance submissions, and addressing employee queries.
Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (Full-time equivalent: 90%)
Schedule: Dependent on departmental and operational needs, within Board Office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The successful candidate will report directly to the Payroll/HR Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent, accompanied by a diploma/certificate in Accounting/CPA or related post-secondary program.
Duties:
Calculation of salary and benefits.
Data entry into computerized payroll systems.
Providing assistance to the Payroll Supervisor.

Term: To commence on April 8, 2024, or by mutual agreement.
