Description

The Sask. Railway Museum is hiring for the position(s)of Student Docent/Gift Shop Operator/Groundskeeper. Term: Approximately 16 weeks (May to September).
Location: The Museum is located five minutes west of Saskatoon on the Pike Lake Highway (#60). Applicants must be a full time post secondary student under the age of 30 and have a valid drivers licence and transportation to and from the museum site.
Qualifications: Applicants must be able to mult-task among the three roles specified in job title. Applicants must be able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks as specified. For grant purposes, students must be returning to post secondary studies in the fall. Students with valid First Aid/CPR certificates are preferred.
Successful applicants will be expected to gain a working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Railway Museums site history, rolling stock, artifacts and buildings related to Canadian railway and street railway heritage.
Duties will include tour guiding, operating vintage museum equipment (motor cars and a VIA tractor), cataloging of artefacts, organizing library, operating the Gift Shop (retail sales, admission ticket sales and customer service), and general grounds maintenance (operating ride-on and push lawn mowers, line trimming, painting, minor restorations and general cleaning duties).
