Description

The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (SFBLC) Garden Patch is a 1.5 acre urban farm that grows 15-20,000 lbs. of food for distribution to the community in emergency food baskets. The Garden Patch is also a tool for community engagement that brings together 2,300 volunteers annually, including school groups, corporate teams, and community members to cultivate community in a welcoming
space. Education is also critical to the success of the Garden Patch. Every year we offer free workshops, programs, and one-on-one mentorship that provides an opportunity for the community to learn and connect with food in the city.
The Garden Patch Agriculture Coordinator, Education Lead oversees the food production and the upkeep of the Garden Patch with a special focus on community education and engagement. Your responsibilities include overseeing the work of Gardening Assistants and collaborating with the Project Manager to
ensure the site is well maintained, safe, organized, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and volunteers.

Coordinate and supervise food production at the Garden Patch including:
Manual labor such as garden planning, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, composting, mulching, etc.
Assist with design and communicate overall seasonal production plan for the Garden Patch.
Ensure timely delivery of produce to the Food Bank & Learning Centre.
Assist with supervision, training, and mentoring Gardening Assistants & volunteers
Collect accurate records on harvest weight, irrigation systems, and planting.

Terms of Employment:
* Contract/Seasonal Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
* Weekend & Evening shift work may be required
* Wage $23.00 per/hour
