Description

The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport's mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the provincial parks system and providing recreation, sport, heritage and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors.

The Ministry is currently seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Park Interpreter for provincial park lands at Fort Carlton Provincial Park. Reporting to the Historic and Cultural Resource Specialist, the position will be heavily involved with public programming and the Visitor Experience team.

As a park interpreter, you will require knowledge of Saskatchewans natural and cultural heritage in order to develop and deliver engaging, informative and interactive nature and recreational programs that make visitors aware of our province's unique biological and cultural diversity. Responsibilities include facilitating curriculum-based school programs, cultural interpretation, organizing special events, hosting guest presenters and guiding resourced-based recreation activities.

In order to be successful in this position, you will be required to exhibit sound judgement when interacting with clients and coworkers. In addition, you will be responsible for creating seasonal reports, promotional materials and other documents, and will be adept in the use of social media.

The successful candidate will be required to work with minimal supervision, including evenings and weekends and occasionally travel to other parks which can include overnight stays. You will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and safely lead outdoor excursions. You must have the ability to lift and carry up to 23 kg, including canoes/kayaks and storage boxes. A valid driver's license is required. This position runs fulltime from the end of April through to September and may include seasonal part-time opportunities in the fall and winter.
