Description

The Conservation Learning Centre (CLC) is an Agri-ARM site located 18 km south of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The CLC promotes profitable and sustainable agriculture through research and technology transfer activities that are of interest to local producers. We also offer a school program to students providing quality learning through hands on activities at the farm. The CLC is looking to hire summer Research Assistants for a 4-6-month term beginning May 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Field preparations and flagging of sites
-Seed cleaning, seed treatment, and set up of seeding envelopes
-Seeding of small plot field trials
-Operating small plot field equipment such as tractors, seeders, sprayers, etc.
-Driving a truck and trailer to move equipment and supplies between sites
-Taking accurate and precise field notes during data collection
-Equipment calibration and maintenance
-Assisting technicians and agronomists
-Yard maintenance
-Gardening (planting, weeding, harvest)
-Leading school group tours
-Helping host field days

Skills/Experience:
Required:
-Punctual, reliable and able to work outdoors
-A high level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes
-Proven problem solving and critical thinking abilities in team and individual settings
-Exceptional communication and organizational skills
-A valid class 5 drivers license
-An interest in agriculture, environmental science, and/or outdoor education

Preferred:
Small plot field trial experience and/or farm experience
Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery
Enrolled in an agricultural or natural sciences program in University or College
