Provides support and troubleshooting for mobile, centralized, networked and distributed computer system hardware and software.
Configure, administer and deploy products and solutions that maintain the operation and security of the Citys computing environment.
Participate on project teams as assigned and ensure the successful completion of these projects as it relates to the Citys computing environment.
Assists in server and account administration as it relates to various hardware, software and database platforms.
Administer and maintain the Citys backup environment including device backup, recovery, tape management, backup software install and upgrades etc.
Develop, document and implement procedures and standards that ensure successful integration of new/upgraded hardware and software into the Citys computing environment.
Act as a liaison with vendors in evaluating and investigating problems.
Develop timelines for assigned work, monitor timelines and report regularly, to immediate supervisor, the progress and status of all assignments.
Demonstrate initiative in sharing technical expertise with other team members and contribute to the effectiveness of the clients through guidance and training as required.
Typically the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through a two (2) year diploma in Computer Engineering Technology or a university degree in Computer Science and/or two (2) to four (4) years of experience administering and troubleshooting in a large computing environment. Certifications in Microsoft, Linux or ITIL would be an asset.
This position may be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and may be required to work irregular shifts.
