This position will be responsible for developing and delivering student support activities for students in the Pathways to Human Service ESWP project offered in partnership with Eastside LIMB. The program will provide participants with programming to help move them into employment in human services specifically daycare or homecare. The program incorporates training in several key areas including workplace essential skills and access to an unpaid work placement. Duties will include academic, career, employment, financial and personal advising on an individual basis and in group settings. Working in collaboration with the instructor, Eastside LIMB, and as part of both the ABE and Learner Services teams, the primary focus will be to help with student retention and success. The advisor will also help to facilitate and monitor the new Educational Training Incentive (ETI) allowance. It is expected that the advisor will be flexible to provide services face-to-face or remotely via technology as determined by student needs and accessibility to campus community. The position will not be on contract during student breaks (Christmas and February)
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum four-year university degree, specifically in the Behavioural Sciences or Human Services fields with preference for a degree in social work.
- A minimum of two years of experience in the advising, social work, or educational fields. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check will be required.
