Job Duties
- Operate and drive tractor and trailer to transport goods and materials throughout Canada and the United States in all types of terrain
- Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories
- Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
- Transport hazardous products and dangerous goods
- Clean and fuel equipment
- Report any damages or accidents as per Company Policy
- Assist in loading or unloading when required
- Perform hooks and unhooks
- Adhere to all highway traffic board regulations and safety and traffic laws
- Mountain driving experience required
Skills/Requirements
- Must possess a valid Class 1A drivers license
- Must complete Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) to obtain a commercial Class 1 license to drive semi-trucks in Saskatchewan. Training is done while living in Saskatchewan
- One year experience operating various types of tractor and trailer equipment
- Must have at least one year of experience in the past three years (in your intended occupation); or six months full time working in Saskatchewan in the job
- Knowledge of highway routes, maps, weights, and dimensions
- Must pass a road test, pre-employment drug test, and dangerous goods course
- Must provide a clean criminal record search and drivers abstract
- Must have a language score of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4
- Must have completed the equivalent of Canadian secondary school (high school) or higher-level education. If studies were not completed in Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment will need to be submitted
