The Local Immigration Program Coordinator will be primarily responsible for setting up, managing, and facilitating the establishment of the community LIP (city of Humboldt and other villages, towns as agreed upon). Duties will vary as the coordinator provides advice, builds relations, initiates activities, monitors results and generally assures the achievements of the LIP. S/he will work directly with the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre and answer to the Executive Director of the Planning Council. This position is funded by Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada.
Outline of Duties and Activities involved:
Consult, guide and supervise the implementing partner organizations in developing all of the project deliverables to ensure that the project meets and exceeds the set targets;
Design evaluation tools utilizing the measures outlined in the LIPW proposal;
Facilitate monthly meetings of partners and stakeholders to stimulate development of innovative and collaborative action among stakeholders
Initiate research the best practices and suggest project ideas to enhance the newcomers cultural and community integration that will feed into LIP strategic planning;
Recruit and train volunteers to assist with the program development and implementation;
Focus on extensive outreach to train municipal ambassadors in delivering project tools and becoming a part of settlement initiatives;
Liaise with organizations in major newcomer hubs to develop partnerships for organized outreach for promotional presentations;
Organize and participate in Immigration oriented events;
Coordinate research streams for further funding and work closely with the Program Manager to develop grant proposals based on strategic needs;
Work closely with the project partners to ensure coordinated progress on all project components.
