Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Public Health Unit, the Research Assistant supports the NITHA Project Coordinator, NITHA Project Lead, Steering Committees and Partner organizations with special project of NITHA, such as the Cancer Project and is responsible to plan, implement and coordinate research activities and to assist in evaluating the project(s).
The ideal candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of research principles and practices. He/she must have excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of situations. The qualifications, knowledge and accountabilities include the following:
Bachelor degree in social sciences or related field, specializing in research analysis
At least two (2) years experience working in statistical research and analysis setting preferred
Thorough knowledge of research methodologies, program evaluation, performance measures, analysis principles, techniques and ethics
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the First Nations principles of OCAP
Demonstrated ability to research and analyze statistical data and service trends information and to summarize information to assist with the development and maintenance of the project(s)
Knowledge of statistical applications
Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and collaborate as a strong team member
Experience in coordinating and facilitating meetings and prevention campaigns
A high standard of confidentiality in handling sensitive information
Experience working in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset
A Valid Drivers License
