Description

Calian is looking for dynamic and passionate Composite Engineer to join our team! Reporting to the Manager of Composite Engineering (formerly SED Research Inc.), you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for the composite design, developing and manufacturing of new and existing products and composites. To be successful you will need to research and consult colleagues to design in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:

-Assist in mentorship and training of less experienced staff
-Perform analysis of multi component systems and structural CAD drawings for composite componentry
-Implement analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and use of other analysis tools to produce models
-Perform analysis, calculations, data reduction and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamic
-Design new products, components, and manufacturing equipment
-Specify and test composite laminates and assembly methods
-Support manufacturing of new and existing products to improve efficiency
-Coordinate fabricators for product testing and process experimentation

Qualifications:

-Minimum 5 years experience in design and analysis of composites, 10+ years preferred  
-A Mechanical Engineering degree, or a combination of relevant education and experience
-Comfortable in a dynamic environment with the ability to troubleshoot tough problems within design and manufacturing
-Willingness to travel
-Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CAD Software, metallic and composite materials, in the Siemens NX environment is considered an asset
